They have super unique pizzas and they're all delicious! Great selection of local and national beer, and a great atmosphere! One of our favorite places in town, and definitely worth checking out.

What an amazing local find in Rapid City. Over 38 exceptional beers on tap, and some of the best pizza I've ever tried. The Bob's Popper pizza combines cheese, bacon, cream cheese, fresh jalapenos, and raspberry preserves for of the most unlikely - but fantastically delicious - pizza combinations imaginable. Super cool staff, very knowledgeable about local and regional beer, and an eclectic vibe make Independent a must try while in the area.

I can't speak to the quality of the available beers. The pizza, however, was very good. My wife enjoyed Bob's Popper and I had Three Little Pigs. They produce creative combinations and the results are worth a visit if you're in town. Personally, I wouldn't drive from afar solely to stop here... But I'm also not interested in the drink menu that many others rave about.

Great selection of beers, excellent pizza. I like the location, very cozy and not too busy on the Saturday night I visited. Highly recommended

People say this place is kid friendly but I would strongly disagree with that, they don’t have changing tables in either one of their bathrooms and no high chairs, so prepare to sit with your baby in your lap on high bar stools. Pizza was amazing.

Well that was good! Walked around town quite a bit eventually found this awesome pizza pub great beer incredible gluten-free pizza couldn’t be happier on Fourth of July!

Great spot for pizza and a wide variety of beer on tap. The food and service were both worth the visit. I'd definitely consider going back next time I'm in the area.

Been through town a couple times and always stop here. Very knowledgeable staff and an incredible selection. If you want a great variety of beer and a mellow environment I highly recommend this place.

Order the Bob's Popper pizza you wont be disappointed. Always a good selection of beer; a good mix of local brews and other breweries outside of Rapid. We enjoy friend nights here as there is a beverage for everybody..and pizzas to share.

Neat house! Enjoy taking friends here for pizza and beer and just to hangout. Love the variety of beers, my husband loves trying new beer and it always has a great atmosphere.

Pizzas were very good. We has the Americano (4 kids so both with and without pepperoni) and the special. Good thing crust and a great sauce. Beer selection is varied and staff is very friendly. Seating is a bit tight, but we found a table downstairs.

Atmosphere was casual but inviting.Service was excellent and drinks and food came out quite quick.We got the meditteranean salad which was delicious(dressing was bomb) and Athena/3little pigs pizzas.Everyone at the table was satisfied and enjoyed the pizzas immensely.They were fresh tasting, great crust that was crispy yet not burned and seasoned well.Wish we could come back to try more of the pizzas.

Good selection of beers and friendly staff. A bit small but nothing to complain about in downtown rapid. The food was great and it wasn't an overly loud atmosphere. Worth the visit if you're looking for a beer and some good food.

First time there felt pretty chill and a mix of city and hills-like. Good place for a sit down and talk about the day you had with friends and family. Didn't try the bar yet but it seemed lively because of one of the bartenders with a beard. I'll be back sometime for sure, pizza was pretty good had that 'yes this homemade' vibe to it.

Location right downtown with a large selection of local beers on tap. If beer is not your jam the wine list is extensive. They offer their standard list of pizzas that range from standby flavors to fusion. Independent Ale House also features one speciality pizza with ingredients that match the season. Seating and full menus is offered on two levels.

The beer selection is stellar and my brick oven pizza was amazing! Sat at the bar and the bartender was helpful in getting us a great beer that matched our tastes. Love the relaxed atmosphere and the music selection. Just a chill place to go for pizza and beer!

5/11/18 7-10pThe place was busy and even with that both waitresses were running around ensuring everyone was being attended to...even the drunk ones....the service is really the reason this place didn’t get 3 stars because the food was without much flavor, the three pigs pizza that is. The flavor of the Thai pizza was delicious but an inch of crust just made the pizza small for $13.

We saw good reviews here and we were excited to come, but came away disappointed. I’m writing solely based on the food we got - the pizza was very mediocre and took about 30 minutes to arrive. There was a good beer selection and our server was great, otherwise I probably would’ve given a 2. If you’re looking for a good beer selection, this is your spot.

Great pizza and beer. Wait staff was awesome ask for a great local dark beer and she chose an amazing coffee stout. My wife also had a great glass red wine, a cab, also a recommendation 👍😁👍

A very large selection of beer on tap. They also have an extensive list of bottled and canned beer. They serve pizza and appetizers, and also have their own hot sauces. (bottles can be purchased for $8)

The place is nice, the staff are nice once they get around to you. We waited for almost 10 minutes before the bartender came over and took our drink order. He explained that he was the bartender but the servers needed help. Very grateful he stepped up bc the waitress couldn't even come over and pretend to care we came in. He did a good job considering what he was up against. The food was better than I remembered from my last visit. Even with a large party all of the food came out hot. The salad was a large portion and it was a real green leafy salad not iceberg lettuce. The pizza was great. No one had complaints about anything other than when we first arrived.

Great pizza! And amazingly helpful staff - she really knew her beers and Options available. We sat downstairs, it's a nice big area if you're not crazy about the upstairs commotion. Great part of town as well if you are visiting from out of state! Check out all of the presidential statues!

Amazing pizza and a huge beer selection. Mondays are half price wine night. Don't be lame and just get a regular ole pepperoni pizza (although it's tasty as well); get one of their specialty pizzas like the Bob's Popper. You won't regret it!

We are traveling to Mt. Rushmore. We stopped and got a bite to eat. The salad and pizzas are great. We all enjoyed our beer. Great place. Our service was wonderful.

I loved everything about this place: the food, the atmosphere, the music and the service. Pizza's were amazing and the salad excellent. There are many drinking holes in Rapid City... this is the best of them! The only problem with this place was that the barman was so handsome, he distracted the table!!!! Seriously this place is a must in Rapid!!!!

Stooped here for dinner on our vacation in rapid city and tried the five-o as recommended by the bartender. I'm not one for jalapenos but figured I could just pick them off. But there must have been a lot of seeds and juice from the peppers because it was pretty spicy. But the crust was really good. Decided to give it another shot a few nights later and tried the chicken bacon ranch and it was excellent. Super tasty and again the crust is perfect. The beer selection is great too.

Huge selection of beers with knowledgeable staff. Got a little bit busy and loud but we were here on a Saturday so it's pretty understandable. On my visit all they had was pizza and salad to eat, the pizza was a little bland but decent (I got the spicy chicken pizza.) I'd definitely recommend for the beer selection however!

The pizza is fantastic. You can modify your order - which is nice. They have hand crafted hot sauce from CO that go great on the pie. Hand crafted soda is phenomenal! Cool atmosphere and friendly staff. Bring the kids!

Food is great! Love love love the pizza, the potato and crab Rangoon pizza is too die for! I really wish they would move to a bigger location, or maybe get a host. The last three time I’ve tried to go, I had to walk around the bar looking for a open spot and then leave, having no idea if anyone will be leaving soon or anything. I get they are a bar and it’s a walk in and seat yourself, but I feel like they would get a lot more business and not piss so many people off if they just got a host or moved to a bigger building

The beer selection was great. The bartender let me try several to pick out the one that I liked best. Got the Bob popper pizza off of his recommendation and lived up to it. The pizza had the right amount of spice and sweetness. I really had a great time here on my first visit to the area. If I'm ever back in the area I will come here.

Excellent pizza served on a plank. I had the "3 Little Pigs (an Indy Favorite)" - tomato sauce, cheese blend, pepperoni, sausage and of course, bacon! For 11 bucks...it was just the right amount of food! To wash it down - I was provided a shot of three different beers to help me select my favorite (at no charge). Very popular place for friends to meet up and have a beer or two after work. I sat at the bar on a weeknight...and the bar staff was very attentive and provided recommendations on beer selections. My favorite place in town for a beer. Constantly rotating taps and knowledgeable staff. The pizza is incredible as well. Especially the jalepeno popper pizza!

This is my favorite restaurant in Rapid City! They have a great, huge selection of beers on tap and bottled (many local). We had the feature pizza which was delicious as well as the Mediterranean salad. Both were big enough that we split them between two people and were stuffed. Service is also great.

The pizza is incredible as well as the selection of beer. Staff is nice although at times it does seem like you are invisible to them. Seating can get a little clustered when it is busy but not unbearable. The whole style is nice. When they open up the downstairs area it also includes some beer on tap and you can still order food down there. More of a laid-back lounge setup. They also have wine if that is more what you are into. They have merchandise worth getting as a fun gift. Very popular place with good reason. You get good food and drinks to share with family and friends even when it gets to be a bit late.
